Nicotine Benefits

Nicotine Benefits

Overtime, as a result of its negative effects, the mention of the word 'nicotine' has come to evoke some form of dread and aversion, mostly from non-smokers.

However, here is a sharp turn: nicotine has been tested and shown to have some benefits. One of its benefits is its ability to increase cognition in general. Some have likened it's effect on concentration to that given by a hot cup of coffee.

As it also turns out, Alzheimer sufferers can find some respite in nicotine, as its cognitive potential has been found to crash the symptoms of this cognition-impairing disease greatly.
Furthermore, nicotine has been shown to contribute to the production of dopamine and serotonin by the brain. They are rightly nicknamed 'happy hormones'. It is for this reason that its use in the treatment of depression is gaining ground. What is more, the boost nicotine gives to their production makes it a potent treatment for Parkinson's disease. Here is where things get shocking: non-smokers are three times more likely to suffer from Parkinson's disease, than smokers! Yes, you read that right.

Conclusively, despite the allure of nicotine, it would do us no wrong to use nicotine patches, gums, sprays, and the likes, by Doctor's prescription only, as we have everything to gain by so doing.
