Side effects of vaping
Vaping side effects

Put in simple terms, vaping is a form of smoking where unlike a cigarette smoker, the user inhales vapor. How this works is that the user has a vaporizer from where he inhales an e- liquid. The e- liquids contain propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin or one of the two as primary ingredients. In addition to these two components, e- liquids come in various flavors such as vanilla, cinnamon and raspberry. These ingredients are not necessarily harmful. For instance, you will find propylene glycol in asthma inhalers and albuterol,

A reading of the above and stopping at that presents a form of smoking that is pure with no side effects. However, contrary to that and most information on the internet on vaping, vaping has a number of side effects and is actually a health risk.
One is that the primary ingredient contained in e- liquid, that is, propylene glycol, causes a drying effect. This is so because PG has the potential to draw water molecules from the atmosphere. This drying effect on the user causes dry mouth, nose bleeding and even skin irritation. The drying effect also causes dehydration in the user's body leading to mild or severe headaches.

E- Liquid contains nicotine. Although the nicotine levels vary, the bottom line is that e- cigarettes contain nicotine. Some actually contain very high levels of nicotine. One of the side effects of inhaling nicotine is that it stimulates autonomic nervous system. The Autonomic nervous system is responsible for regulating body processes such as breathing, digestion, blood pressure, urination, sexual response just to name a few. When the autonomic nervous system is stimulated by chemicals such as nicotine it speeds up the cardiovascular and respiratory systems of the user in an abnormal way. This thus causes increased breathing, heart rate and the rise of blood pressure.
Nicotine inhalation also causes dizziness, nausea and blurred vision. In the long- time, a user will definitely develop a nicotine addiction. With prolonged exposure to nicotine, blood vessels are constrained and there is increased risk of hardening of the arteries. Hardening of arteries is a significant cause of heart attacks.

Research has also shown vaping to have effects on the lungs by causing an increase in lung tension and inflammation. These side effects are a glaring exposure to lung cancer.

The flavors contained in e- cigarettes also cause irritation in eyes and infection of the respiratory system. For instance, some e- liquids contain a chemical known as diacetyl is used in cherry and almond flavors. This chemical is associated with bronchiolitis obliterans. The fact that the e- liquid contains flavors is a big health mistake because flavors are generally not safe to inhale.
In addition, e- cigarette ingredients are not strictly regulated, as in the case of cigarettes. Companies making and selling e- cigarettes are more likely to include harmful ingredients and fail to list them.

Finally, the public is not entirely saved from the side effects of vaping either due to the above stated fact e- cigarettes contain nicotine.
